And once, there was a Singularity
It may be hard to remember life before the pandemic, but it wasn’t so long ago that Justin and Fran tied the knot inside their Chrysalis and released their magic onto the world.
For over twenty years, 70,000 people have made a pilgrimage to the Black Rock Desert for a social experiment called Burning Man. The Playa is a breathtaking beautiful, physically harsh environment where inventors, artists, and spiritually minded explorers go to connect more deeply with the human experience. We knew it would be the only container powerful enough to handle this transformational moment in our lives. Burning Man agreed -announcing the theme for 2019 would be “Metamorphoses.” To create an experience worthy of our loved ones, most whom were new to the 10 Principles, we built a new Theme Camp, upgraded our Art Car, and scaled-up our offerings to citizens of Black Rock City. Doing any of these things alone would be enough of a challenge for anyone, but successfully doing them all at once while simultaneously designing and orchestrating a ceremony packed with purpose and meaning - required meticulous care, attention, and of course, the help of our community. There is a saying, “The Playa provides,” and it did - an experience of love and connection that will forever be etched into the memories of all those present.

The moment the Singularity expanded beyond itself.

Imagine your delight if a adorable little piggy were to appear and bake you fresh cookies on the spot!
In 2012, I helped build BAAAHS, the sheep shaped Sound Car that services as a safe space for LGBTQ community. I designed and built This Lil’ Piggy in 2016, the first year he made it all the way all the way Home to Burning Man. Together with a former PwC colleague, I developed a shelf stable, ghee based dough. This allowed us to safely traverse the playa, baking fresh, hot cookies for those curious enough to follow their noses, and brave enough to share with us their highest and lowest moments of the day.
Conceived as a wedding gift for my husband in 2019, a soft opening of the Unicorn Kreamery served up homemade frozen treats to pair with those funky Playa beats. Initial consumer feedback indicates overwhelming demand should be anticipated.
